Paddington. Animal aid group 8 cats  7 dogs disappear from local housing estate in one week 

Cannon Hill.  womens 3 cats go missing in three months fourth cat disappears but is found three miles away two weeks later 

Victoria Australia.

Broadmeadows. Women searching for her missing cat discovers that 4 other cats and 3 dogs had disappeared from the same street on the same day .

Essendon . Reported 4 dogs stolen from two streets in one week .

Sale. A litter of 5 pedigree pups stolen a day after so called buyers viewed the property for sale

New South Wales Australia . 

Hornsby. Petwatch district co - ordinator reports 19 cats  12 dogs in one month missing in the hornsby area .

Bondi . 12  cats 5 dogs go missing in ten days

Caringbah . one family 11 of their cats disappear in three years .

Merrylands. Petwatcher reports 21 cats and 9 dogs are stolen in fifthteen days 6 cats 2 dogs vanish from one street overnight

South Australia.

Glenelg ,Norwood ,Kingston, St Marys,24 dogs 37 cats missing in two months

3 six week old puppies were found shivering and yelping in a cray fish pot at Lancelin beach Western Australia

Knows its happening but is helpless to act spokesman - Martin Beaumont said we were sceptical at first  believing most of the missing cats were run over or killed on the road but this new pattern of pet theft is causing us concern we are hearing of many cats that never go beyond the fence line have gone missing / stolen 3 cats have disappeared from the same street in Maddington W.A in a matter of hours

C.E.O Dr Smith said thieves cut there way through the outside fence then cut a hole through the cage holding a staffordshire bull terrier cross pup and cocker spaniel cross pups and were stolen

Kittens stolen as race lures

Mrs Claire Davis President of The Animal Protection Society Victoria said kittens stolen from the shelter were probably used as grey hound lures so far 52 animals have been stolen after thieves cut through wire fences  stealing 30 dogs and 22 cats and kittens 

Dog and kid - napped 

According to Victorian Police a 12 year old girl and her pet dog were taken at knife point from a park near Brunswick st Fitzroy by two men of asian appearance bundled the dog into a plastic bag and locked it into the boot of a small sedan Detective Sgt Thompson of the C.I.B said the girl was released about 15  mins later unharmed the dog is still missing

BIRDS,HORSES,GOATS AND RABBITS .

Stolen during the year of 2007 BIRDS -

of different varieties reported stolen during 2007 Some 52 birds ( cages and all) were stolen from front and back verandahs and off patios A further 265 birds were stolen from lofts and avaries in back yards .

HORSES 22 horses stolen - 8 returned to 

their rightful owners ( Two convictions by state police)

GOATS 83 stolen or missing

RABBITS 88 stolen or missing (never found)

Although P.W.A investigates the theft of all companion animals it receives very little information on all the above mentioned stolen pets

Therfore the statistics shown here we believe is just the tIp of the iceberg
